BETONY VERNON - THE MISTRESS OF DESIRE

HAPPY VALENTINE

Betony

Betony Vernon is an American-born designer, sexual anthropologist and author based in Paris. Her life and work is conceived and lived through the lens of desire. So it is no surprise that the Origin Chair featured in BUILD (seen below) was carved from the sensuous white marble of Monte Altissima in the Tuscan Alps. According to Betony, "Michelangelo was enchanted by the stone and wanted to use it to sculpt 'Night' and 'Day' two of the four sculptures commissioned by the Medici for the family chapel he designed in the Basilico of San Lorenzo in Florence."
