Effective Date: July 12, 2025

We deeply value creativity, authorship, and intellectual property. This page outlines how we approach image use, copyright, and licensing across our platforms, including our website, digital publications, and collaborative work.

📸 Image Use & Attribution

Most images featured on this site are:

  • Original works created by The Lab Mag (The Laboratory Arts Collective) and its contributors,

  • Submitted directly by artists, photographers, or members of the public with permission,

  • Licensed under Creative Commons or royalty-free agreements (e.g., Unsplash, Pexels), or

  • Used in accordance with U.S. copyright law under the Fair Use Doctrine.

Wherever possible, we credit photographers and image sources clearly and in good faith.

If you believe an image on our site has been used without proper attribution or permission, please contact us:

We will respond promptly and, if appropriate, remove or correct the image in question.

🏷️ Sponsored or Partnered Content

From time to time, The Lab Mag collaborates with external partners to produce special features, which are clearly marked as “in partnership with” or “sponsored.” These posts may contain promotional or editorial materials, including images provided directly by the partner.

  • Images in partnered content are used with explicit permission, or supplied by the partner.

  • We do not use unlicensed images for promotional or commercial purposes.

  • Our editorial independence is maintained in all non-partnered content.

If a concern arises about a specific image used in a partnered post, we welcome you to contact us at info@thelabmag.com for prompt review.

🛡️ Fair Use Statement

Some content may be used under the Fair Use provisions of U.S. copyright law (17 U.S.C. §107) for purposes such as commentary, news reporting, education, cultural critique, or tribute.

Our fair use assessment considers:

  • The purpose and character of the use (educational, transformative, non-commercial),

  • The nature of the copyrighted work,

  • The amount and substantiality of the portion used,

  • The effect on the potential market value of the original.

The Lab Mag does not monetize its editorial content with advertising, and no profit is generated from the inclusion of such imagery.
