The Artist & the Poet & the Film Director

Filmmaker Abel Ferrara reads TOENAIL from The Earth Will Come to Laugh and Feast

Roger Ballen and Gabriele Tinti are featured in NATURA, our latest issue of the Lab Mag. Here is an excerpt & reading of the poem FRAGMENTS read by Abel Ferrara.

As Tinti says The book is the result of a strong bond between art and literature, of ekphrastic writing that evokes images by highlighting hidden relations, implied mysteries and numerous suggestions. The outcome is a collection of fragments, poems and short stories revealing the profound comprehension of existence as a fate of torment, of the inevitability of suffering, of our impotence before pain.”

TOENAIL

The gangrene from the toenail climbs your soft body.
The days undo all you have built.
Night overturns everything on earth.
Only a part is left to be photographed.

La cancrena dall’unghia scala il tuoi corpo molle.
I giorni sfanno tutto quel che hai costruito.
La notte rovescia a terra ogni cosa.
Soltano una parte resta da fotografare.
